I’m not sure what’s happened, but either Mother Nature’s confused or she’s letting her children play with the weather again. Yesterday afternoon, Phoenix’s high was 57 degrees. That’s Fahrenheit, not Celsius. Today? 69 degrees. Tonight? When my program’s throwing a party at the zoo where we’re supposed to be outside for the most part? High 40s. I’m freezing here, people, and I’m in Phoenix! Would somebody get hold of Mother Nature and inform her that she needs to get her act together
There’s a really good reason I haven’t posted in the past couple of weeks. This quilt is the reason. It’s for my nephew Pierce and his baptism is this weekend while we’re back in Huntsville for Thanksgiving. Thus, mad quilting to be finished with the project on time.
More pictures are here.
Wow, Sean is posting, it must be something monumental.
Well maybe not so much, but Kat and I took our long in the tooth waterbed apart this morning. The discovery of yet another leak within the last 2 weeks finally pushed us over the edge to get a real mattress and box springs. Compared to the less than 200 bucks that I spend building the frame and getting the waterbed bladder I think the cost was a wee bit of a shock. However, I have a feeling that this set is going to last us much longer and contribute to better sleep for the both of us. We ended up purchasing a Simmons Backcare mattress in a king size, and while we are still shopping around for a bed frame to go around it we just stuck everything on the floor. Tonight will be our sleep test and we will go from there.
Also we have decided to take our house off the market for at least the holiday season, for those who did not know we have had our house on the market in hopes that we could move up closer into town. But really, who wants to clean to perfection this time of year? So for now we are going to get some things done and enjoy the house (coming soon: an actual backyard, not just dirt!).
There you go for a quicky update!
On this day last year, I was marooned up in Denver trying to get my work with our customer finished so that I could go home. In other words, I was not only at work on my birthday, but I was on travel on my birthday. The only saving grace to what would otherwise have been the worst birthday yet was the fact that my coworker who was also marooned up at the customer’s place took me out to dinner to celebrate.
Today, I decided to make up for last year. I’m not at work. I’m definitely not in Denver. Instead, I took the day off, slept in and went shopping all day. It’s been a great day so far. I now have a decadent dinner in the making in our fridge (filet mignon), a really nice bottle of wine (Ruffino Reserva Ducale) and Sean is on his way home. Shopping was a blast, especially since I found some awesome deals and I’m looking forward to a great dinner and a quiet evening with my husband to round off a great birthday.
Hope everyone else had a wonderful day and don’t forget to go vote.
