denver
I’m writing this from my little table tucked away in a corner of my hotel room in Denver, Colorado. After a whirlwind of events late last week, I found myself spending Sunday evening on an airplane and now my night in a hotel. Actually, several nights. Six to be specific. Saturday, I get to fly back to Phoenix for a couple days and then turn around and repeat this trip all over again, but at least I’ll get to see Sean for a couple days. In the meantime, it’s 11:30pm and I’ve got a 12-hour workday ahead of me tomorrow. I need to remember to swing by the grocery store tomorrow and pick up a couple energy drinks. It’ll be a long day.
Oh, and for the record, Denver’s nice today. We’ll see if it stays that way for the rest of the week.

It’s too bad that I can’t come up with a plausible reason for you and my friend Alex and his wife Heather to get together. [It would be easier if I'd, you know, actually met Alex.]

The few days I spent in Denver I enjoyed, even though I was doing a fair amount of work at the time.

Hi there,
Stumbled upon your website after googling “Basalt Slate.” Husband and I are building house and for now, we’re going with Formica. I noticed you have this particular countertop. Although it doesn’t appear that you have the “Honed Finish,” I would like to know what you think about it. Our kitchen cabinets will be solid maple, beige tile floor, Porter beige chiffon paint color and Frigidaire’s Professional Series Line (Stainless) for appliances. Do you think it looks black or more of a dark grey? I’m looking for more of a dark grey color. How realistic do you think it looks (compared to real stone/slate)?
Your house looks beautiful. Congrats and thanks for your reply!!!!

Lisa, send me you e-mail address. I will take a picture of the counter with our black appliances. It has more grey than black in my opinion, but I really like it. shoot the e-mail to inigo9910 (a) hotmail.com

Sean,
The countertops look great. Now I just wonder what they’ll look like in a “Honed” finish (textured just like slate). Hmmmm. Will have to see. I’m also considering Formica’s Graphite Grafix and WilsonArt’s Graphite Nebula. Both of these are identical except that the Nebula is a hair darker than the Grafix. Decisions, decisions. And the longer I wait, the closer I get to paying that $100 change order fee!!!
By the way, how does it clean up? Any problems with it whatsoever?
Thanks a bunch!

Kat, if you get a chance and want a break, shoot Jiggy or I an e-mail and we can attempt to rescue you from Denver. It’s a short drive.
