the cowboy bar

I flew home from Atlanta and DragonCon last night. Unfortunately, Hurricane Frances decided to mess with my plan to get home early enough to have dinner back in Phoenix and actually do some laundry before going to bed early last night. Because of bad weather in Atlanta, I left Atlanta an hour late, thus missing my connecting flight in Denver. Thankfully, the blessed people at Frontier made this very easy for me and already had me scheduled with a boarding pass for the next flight out in hand when I got off the plane. How cool was that?!
After attempting to call my lovely husband, who had chosen this one day to accidentally leave his cell phone at home, and my parents, who had just flown back from Haiti the day before and had similar weather problems, I settled in at The Cowboy Bar. I figured that I had a three hour layover. I might as well enjoy the three hours that I’m sitting around chilling.
For two out of the three hours that I was in Denver, I happily sat at the bar, drinking Fat Tire Ale on tap, watching USA beat Russia’s butt in hockey with a couple other guys that were watching the game. Nothing beats passing time like good beer and a good game on TV.

I am home now. Actually, I’m at work now. I did make it back late last night. I’ve got lots of things to tell, but first I have a report to write and I’ve still got a long day at work ahead of me. I’ll write more about Con over the next few days. For right now, I’m going to just enjoy the relative quiet of my office and the distinct lack of humidity.

  1. Fat Tire on tap? Can you feel my lack of pity? Can you? It’s palpable.

  2. Well, Fat Tire is made in Fort Collins, CO and Fort Collins is only an hour away from Denver, so it’s kinda obvious that it would be on tap. I mean, I would have preferred a Guiness, but I made the huge sacrifice and took the Fat Tire instead. ;)

  3. Yay for being back in Fort Collins. Maybe I’ll pick up some Fat Tire (from New Belgium, just down the road!) and drink to your honor. :)

Glad you got home ok. We barely made our flight home, as we had some huge problems at the airport… but plenty of time for those stories. For now, though — precious, precious sleep.
