Vet Visit

We took the cats to the vet today. What an experience. I had never taken both of these cats to the vet before. We got them into their carrier, which wasn’t too bad. Sean got the carrier out to the car (I can’t carry it, as my back is acting up lately) with no noise. We get into the car and that’s when the low, pitiful mewing starts. Other than the background mewing, the trip to the vet wasn’t too bad.
Sean and I tried the vet hospital out over at the PetSmart. It’s called Banfield Vet Hospital. The major advantage to going there is that since they’re nationwide, our records are automatically accessible no matter where we are. Bonus! Kudzu and Weaver both got weighed. Kudzu is her usual tiny 8.9lbs and Weaver was his usual whopping 13.1lbs. The vet came into the exam room. Kudzu was already hiding underneath the sink, behind the pipes, likely praying that we would forget that she was there. Weaver got his exam first. He’s a quiet cat. He just sat there and let her examine him, only trying to slink away a couple times.
Unfortunately, right as the vet was starting her exam on Kudzu, there was an emergency and she had to leave us in the exam room for about 15 minutes. This, of course, meant that Kudzu had an extra 15 minutes to work herself up. Kudzu spent her exam time growling, hissing and trying to thwap whatever hand was closest.
They both have their shots now. I still have to go back on May 20 for another exam so that they can get their health certificates, but at least this took care of their shots. This is also a good chance for them to get used to being in their pet carriers.
Flying with cats. Please, someone, tell me that I’m not insane, because I’m really feeling like I am.
