new shoes

I finally went out and bought the new shoes I’d been contemplating for a while now. I had already decided that I really wanted a pair of Birkenstocks, but I wanted something that I could get away with wearing to the office as well as when just hanging out on the weekends. So, I went to Valley Birkenstock (the local Birkenstock store) last night and checked out what they had since I wasn’t impressed with the selection at the various department stores. Wow. This store has all sorts of styles of Birks as well as different colors than you would normally find here in the States. Apparently, they order several of their selections straight from Germany so that they get a wider selection in. When I left that night, I was happily wearing my new pair of shoes. I really love them. The style and color is terrific and they look good with most of the clothes I own which is a definite bonus. These shoes are going to be seeing a lot of wear.

  1. Heh, you’re still in college and can get away with it. :p

Reminds me of a conversation I had with James earlier today about DJ’ing for the UAH orientation shindig tomorrow night.

    J: "What’s the dress?"

G: "One, it’s college. Two, it’s outside. Casual, casual, casual."

J: "I’ll go buy a pair of Birks so I can fit in."

G: "Nah, just get your nastiest Auburn hat, a T-shirt with half-naked women on it, and the crappiest shorts you can find, and you’ll be okay."

  2. Neh, these babies are going to get worn at work even after I go full time. These are actually pretty nice, considering the conditions of some of the tennis shoes I’ve seen around here.

  3. Hey, those are just like my new Birks, except different colors. Cool.

And remember Kat, you work in the office where I used to wear flannel pajama pants on Fridays.

  4. Very true. 🙂 They’ve gotten a little pickier about what we can wear around here, but Fridays are as always casual day and they let just about anything go.

  5. Neh, you just work for the stuffy office. I like the fact that a lot of us programmers around here actually wear jeans all during the week, not just on Fridays. Now, if we’re going to see a customer, then yeah, we have to look nice, but that’s it.
