Casa De Morrill

Sean and I got back from Atlanta last night. It was actually early in the evening, about 6pm when we got home. Unfortunately, both of us were sick at the time, so we curled up on the couch and vegged before going to bed at an unprecedented 9:30pm.

It all started Saturday morning when I woke up with a sore throat. It was raining outside, but being the determined people we are, we went to the ren fest anyway. It was raining when we first entered the park. It’s a permanent structure that they’ve erected with shops lining the sides. In the middle are stands and other various smaller shops in tents. It rained until about 11 or 12 when it finally decided to be merciful on us. We wandered the festival for the rest of the day with Jason and some of his friends. There were lots of neat shops there, including a glassblower who did demonstrations and swordshops and a chainmail shop. There were plenty of clothing stores as well. Both Sean and I left with new outfits to wear for DragonCon this year. I also left with a headtiara that Sean bought for me. I almost left with a full headset of chainmail jewelry, but decided to wait until maybe next year for that. It looked very cool, though, when I tried it on.

Overall the ren fest was a lot of fun. Unfortunately, the rain and damp weather just meant that both Sean and I got sicker. Yesterday, we went home by way of Dawsonville and the outlets where I picked up a few new outfits for work. We also made a quick side trip to the Amicolola Falls. The falls were absolutely beautiful. In the past year, they had even constructed a set of stairs that allowed you to hike up to the top of the falls. Even though we were both sick, Sean and I enjoyed the chance for fresh air and actually made the hike all the way up and back down. It was well worth our exhausted calves. We got home last night, vegged for a while and then went to bed early in hopes of being rested for work this morning. It didn’t happen. Both of us slept fitfully, especially with the cats bugging us all night. So, this morning, we decided to call in sick to our respective work places and hopefully get some rest today. We’ll see how things go.
