Yet again, Huntsville amazes me. I have succeeded in finding another tiny little patch of culture and civilization in this town so devoid of it. Sister Gooch’s is a small restaurant off of Slaughter Rd. out towards Madison. When you drive up to the place, you really don’t believe what you’re seeing. There’s a pebble pathway that curves its way through the well manicured lawn and garden patches. Along the path there are tables that are both under the trees and under umbrellas. To your right, there are herb and vegetale gardens growing. Walking in, you see a cafeteria style serving area. They have a display case with sandwiches and salads made up. At the far end of the display case are the desserts, everything from creme brulee to cinnamon rolls and muffins. I had the ham and gruyere. It was on freshly made baguette bread. Yum. I also had a penne pasta salad that practically melted in your mouth. For dessert, Sally talked me into a raspberry por creme (or something like that). I thought I was going to die and go to heaven. Apparently, for dinner, the setting is a little more formal, where you sit down and order from a menu.
They’re having brunch for mother’s day. I might see if we can take mom there for mother’s day. That would be kind of cool.

It’s over. One more term that I get to wave good-bye to. Last night’s exam wasn’t too horrible. My exams this term have actually been amazingly short. Only 5 or 6 questions at most on them. Last night, I had my Algorithms final. Two of the problems were exactly what I was expecting. The other two weren’t too much of a surprise. I just wrote what algorithms I could and what I couldn’t write, I described the hell out of so that she knows that I at least understand the concept. We’ll see.
I mentioned to Sean that I wasn’t going to know what to do with all of this free time I now have. Then, I realized how little free time I really have over the next week. Today, I have a presentation at work to give. After work, I have an HKN meeting to elect next year’s officers. After that, Sean and I head to my brother’s place where we’re supposed to be helping them layout their new gardens and then we get fed dinner. It’s nice having time to do something like that now.
Tomorrow night, Sean and I head to Atlanta and Saturday we’ll spend the day with Jason and some of his friends at the Ren Fest. It’s supposed to have a Highland Games slant to it this weekend, so we’ll get fed dinner and we get to choose a tourney to go see. Sounds cool. Sunday, we’ll no doubt chill in Atlanta for the day and then meander our way home late since I won’t have homework to deal with for once. Woohoo! Although we’ll be busy, it’ll be relaxing just knowing that I’m not procrastinating on anything.
Time to get ready for another day at work.
