That’s it. What is it about people living together for periods of time? You start to adopt each others’ habits, mannerisms, everything. With women, it’s been studied that even their bodies’ cycles start to run together.

As I was talking to Susan, one of my coworkers, Serena ducks her head out the door and goes, “You sound just like Heather! I thought for a minute that Heather had come to visit us.” Do we really sound just a like? Serena’s not the only one who’s told me this. Even Susan’s mentioned it a few times, especially right when I first started to work here. I personally don’t see it, but hey, who knows.

I was reading Brian’s website today and I noticed that he’s reading Terry Pratchett’s Feet of Clay. Oh joy, oh rapture! Another person to hook onto Terry Pratchett. My background with Terry Pratchett is actually kind of interesting. The first book of his that I read was not (contrary to most people’s experience) Good Omens. Instead, I actually read his first book in the Discworld series Colour of Magic.

I was actually introduced to Terry Pratchett on my 18th birthday, when Johan sent me the first book as a birthday present. I laughed so hard through parts of it, I was crying. I was hooked immediately. That Christmas, I got the second book and I ate it up as fast as possible (I think it was read in the course of a day, maybe two). I tried to find the next book in the series here in the States, but to no avail. The publisher had released the last half of the Discworld novels here, but not the first. That, and the US books had weird covers on them. So, I waited until that summer when I headed to Sweden to go visit Johan. There’s a science fiction bookstore in Gamla Stan that’s got several shelves devoted to just Terry Pratchett novels and the covers were completely different (much cooler) than the covers sold in the states. During my stay there, I think I ate up about 3 more of the Discworld books plus I read Good Omens. Johan promised to send more as time went by. By the time, Johan and I broke up, I think I had about 8 of the books. Not even close to the whole collection.

Needless to say, because of the wonderful Amy I now own all but the latest two books by Terry Pratchett. This summer, my goal is to finish reading them. Sean’s already gone through the whole collection, but I’ve lagged behind because of school work and being distracted by other authors. So, Brian, if you’re ever interested in reading the rest of Terry Pratchett’s stuff, just tell me and I’ll be glad to loan you some of the books. They’re great for overseas travelling.
