another monday

Another Monday, another beginning of the week. This weekend, I was amazingly productive, even if it doesn’t look like I was. I only got one thing marked off my list of things to do before the end of term, but it wasn’t an easy one. I finally got my second Operating Systems homework assignment finished. This man is amazing. He sits there and lectures us in class on one thing, assigns homework on another and then rips us a new one in class when we mention that fact. *sigh* It’s done now, even if the people I worked with on the assignment and I all had to do some serious searching online to find information to understand these questions. Yes, some of them weren’t even topics covered well enough in the book or our notes. I finished typing the last question at 12:46am last night. Jeff had left about 15 minutes before that. I printed out the pages of homework (the assignment had to be typed, as per a demand from our grader for the class), placed them in a plain envelope, placed it on my desk and then went to bed. It was done, that’s all that mattered.

This weekend was kind of interesting. Sean and I’ve started to talk about finding me another car, one that would reduce my car payments a little bit. I can still afford the Saturn, but I would like to have a little extra money every month and I rarely do as current monetary situations stand. Saturday morning, we went to a couple dealerships to test drive some cars. Just for fun, I test drove a Toyota Matrix. It’s just like the Pontiac Vibe, but with a slightly different front to it. No, seriously, they really are just alike, down to having a very cool AC outlet in the car. No more car adapters. It also had a navigation system that the salesman and I had a lot of fun playing with. Just think, guys would never need to ask for directions again, because they’d be right there in the car. Great for guys’ egos and great for the girls because we’d get where we were trying to go. We also drove one of the ‘99 Beetles. Cute car. Fun to drive. It’s a deceptively powerful car, if you get a 5-speed. Only problem, Sean practically has to fold himself into the car and I didn’t like the length of the clutch. My knees would practically have to touch the steering wheel when the clutch was out just so that I could push the clutch all the way in. The other car we drove was a Honda Accord. I almost bought it, if that tells you how much Sean and I liked the car. To be honest, Sean and I were about to trade cars just so that he could get the Accord. It was four doors, 5-speed. It was roomier than Heather’s Taurus. I didn’t believe Sean when he mentioned that at first, until I climbed into the back seat for a minute. Wow. Even with the passenger seat fully extended back, I had oodles of leg room, which is a first for me in any car. Even the trunk had tons of space. We were so close. If we’d had a down payment, I think we would have bought the car that day. Granted, I’d likely be driving the Civic more often than the Accord, because Sean liked the car so much, but I wouldn’t have minded that. :)

Saturday afternoon, I spent working more on the Operating Systems homework. Sean’s battery in his car died, so that was interesting and we got to play car tag that afternoon. Then, that evening we had a few friends over. It had been a while since Sean and I had see Kris and Krystal, so we had them over for barbeque. It wound up that Allis came over as well with her boyfriend, Scott, and then Jeff came over so that he and Kris could talk about getting a LARP together in Athens. After dinner, pool ensued at the Jello Room. That’s an experience unto itself. It’s famous for its jello shooters, but they also have the cheapest pool in this town as far as I know. We played a few rounds and I ran into someone I knew from high school.

Sunday, Sean and I slept in. We lollygagged for a bit in the morning. I started to work on my last program for my CS317 class, but disliked coding for it so much that I put it off to get some jumper cables with Sean and then did a Costco run with Sean and Amy. Anything to not deal with it. Got a nap early evening and then spent the rest of the evening finishing my Operating Systems homework. Jeff came over for a while to work on it with me. I am so grateful he’s in that class with me, else I would not have worked my way through one of those problems without him. Jeff’s a really decent guy. He’s gotten a bad rep with some of the people that I hang out with, but if you get to know him, he’s been a good, solid friend for about 5 years for me and I’m always grateful for friends that help me get through stuff. It’s also been great because we study together really well, so he’s been handy to have in classes with me. :)

Anyway, I’ve put off doing real work long enough this morning. Time to get back into coding (oh, wait, that’s right, I never stopped this weekend).
