counting the days
Posted in General on 04/05/2002 07:08 am by katI’m counting down the days until I’m finished this semester. I started off this semester with an optimistic outlook of what it would be like. By midterm, I was getting sick with stress from the loads that my teachers were giving us. Now, Spring Break has revived me enough (bless being able to go on trips with my fiance and brother. they’re life savers at times) that I can make it through this last month. There’s a calendar drawn on my dryerase board at home. It’s the month of April with all of my projects and tests that are coming up. As usual, several of my teachers completely ignored the rule of no tests or major projects the last week of class. Oh well. As each day goes by, I mark one more day off the calendar. It gives me a sense of accomplishment and progression. I will make it to the end of this term and not have to take these classes ever again.
Sadly, I have to take summer classes so that I can graduate this next spring. (I will officially be graduating May 11, 2003). I’m taking one of my CPE electives, CS524. It’s a programming languages class. We analyze various programming languages and what they’re used/developed for. It looks like it’s going to be a really interesting course and perhaps I’ll leave with a better understanding of programming languages as a whole and not just the basic theory behind doing things. The other two classes I’m taking are just 6 week courses, MU101 (Intro to Music Theory) and ECN143 (Microeconomics). I will shamefully admit that I’m taking MU101 just to take an easy class for once in my life. I’m not expecting it to be hard or even slightly difficult. I’ve studied music theory a lot in my life as a cellist and pianist, so I’m not worried. It’s more of a class to just breeze by in and hopefully get some time to relax. Microeconomics will be interesting. I’m not sure what to expect out of the class, but it will wrap up my humanities requirements, so I’m just going to go along with it and deal.
On a really cool note, I got invited by the Eta Kappa Nu Honor Society to join them. Very nice. I’m arranging a time to meet up with them and discuss everything that goes on. I’m really quite thrilled with that, as I didn’t know what type of academic record you had to have to be in the honor society. Apparently, mine’s good enough.
Okay, time to quit procrastinating and just get ready to go to work this morning.
