A burning weekend
Posted in General on 07/05/2001 02:41 pm by SeanFirst of all, this was supposed to be posted a bit before now, I have gotten distracted by the myriad of events happening. This past weekend was chock full of events, so let me catch you up on what has been going on.
Friday night was Geekfest #?: My god, everyone is in town.™ Twas loads of
fun eating Ethiopian food, setting off dangerous fireworks, launching
waterballons at the high voltage towers, and other general silliness. We
had 14 attendees that night making this one of the largest Geekfests ever.
Lessons of the night: Waterballons travel much farther then you ever thought
when slung at 75 mph, fireworks are meant to be played with, Ethiopian food is good, and that communial bread does work as long as no one has any communicable diseases.
Saturday night was interesting to say the least. Kat and I went with Geof up to see where he wants to move up on the mountain, and then wandered around the 5 points area looking at houses. One day I will not have to deal with this apartment stuff…. Later that evening we went over to Patricia’s house (a friend of Peter and Cheryl, Kats brother and sister-in-law). Fondue insued, conversations and wine flowed, and a general good time was had by all.
Sunday great gobs of time were spend chewing the treads off my tires. Kat and I attended another Autocrossing event. (yes, we do spend alot of time together) It was my second official event and kat’s first. She and I were the only competitors in our classes and I ended up getting the better time, but hey, that is what experience will do for you. We also met another Pete, who drives a little civic that is quickly becoming a rice mobile, but hey, he did let me drive it J. His mom was there to and I have to give pros to anyone over the age of 45 who actually wants to drive and race a Subaru WRX. He has made more modifications to his car than I have so now I am going to have to play catch-up, suspension is now first on my list. I will probably track down some Neuspeed Sportline Springs to put on my car, it made a world of difference on that civic. Pete was a little pissed that I got a better time then he did in his own car though. Heh, now I can say that it is natural talent. But he is a really cool guy and it looks like he and I are going to work together on doing car stuff. All in all, it was a great day racing and burning my face, meeting nice people will do that to you….
